RCC is looking for an Events Intern to work remotely and out of our Toronto Head Office. This position will be reporting to the Manager, Events.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Events Intern is an entry level position responsible for providing efficient and confidential administrative support of Retail Council of Canada's Events programs. This is a full-time, four (4) month internship from April to August 2024.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Registration, Administration & Data Processing

  • Assist the events team with all aspects of pre & post-event online and manual registration processes.
  • Verify that registration data is accurately collected, and key contact information is transferred into RCC database.
  • Ensure registration fees are paid and processed, and all registrations are paid within the correct levels and categories.
  • Assist with the delivery of all aspects of on-site event registration logistics.
  • Help with updating content on event websites.
  • Support Events team with special projects, as required.
  • Other general administration duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Post-secondary education; preferably in Office Administration, Events Management, Public Relations, or related program
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a team member
  • Capacity to produce a high volume of quality work within tight timelines
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends occasionally during peak times
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity in the form of continuous improvement to internal processes

Assets:

  • Knowledge of the retail industry
  • Experience in database entry, financial reports, and POS processing
  • Experience with website content management
  • Sales or telemarketing experience
