About Advanced Material Handling Ltd Advanced Material Handling Ltd. specializes in the manufacturing of material handling equipment for several industries, i.e.:

We are continually developing new conveyor chains and accessories while developing creative solutions and constructing high-quality products to meet each customers unique requirements.

We machine a variety of sprockets, shafts, hubs, conveyor components and many other miscellaneous products to serve all our customers' needs and requirements for whatever application they may need. We are currently looking for a qualified journeyman machinist with the ability to program CNC lathe and mills to help our current supervisor and machine shop staff take on the current daily workload.

Currently, we are looking for a Dayshift Machinist. Shift is from Wednesday to Sunday 6:30am to 3:00pm.

MACHINIST JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Program CNC machines as per provided drawings.
  • Run parts in CNC Lathes, and Mills after programming.
  • Q /C parts as per drawings.
  • Keeps work areas as clean and tidy as possible.
  • Communicates CNC Machine repair needs.
  • Programming, and producing parts in a busy job shop style machine shop, making a variety of different products.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated team player and willingness to assist others when required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Mastercam programming.
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Mastercam programming 2D 3 Axis Mills, Lathe On control programming experience, and knowledgeable with Haas control, would all be considered an asset.
  • Journeyman machinist and completion of apprenticeship program would be considered an asset.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Responsible for the attendance, coaching, discipline, training, and performance evaluation of machine shop staff.
  • Maintain traveler conformance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Help lead shop floor personnel to be capable of meeting company goals.
  • Attend daily morning meeting prior to starting work.
  • Fill-in on the shop floor when needed such as making parts or any other support activity.
  • Be directly involved with the implementation and execution of continuous improvement planning and implementation.
  • Lead various special projects as assigned by management.
  • Schedule routine preventative maintenance on machines when as needed.
  • Accurately read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure proper setup, sequence of operations, dimensions, and tolerance levels of finished product.
  • Provide continuous support to management on job improvements.
  • Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions.
  • Suggest and help implement cost reductions and quality improvements.
  • Provide recommendations to improve productivity, equipment utilization, and identify best use of equipment and tooling accordingly.
  • Optimize programs and manufacturing methods for continuous process improvement. Advise and assist in programming a variety parts, fixtures, jigs, tools.
  • Create the machining process for new parts and or trouble-shoot existing old machining processes. Meet or exceed work orders required time on a job management has provided.
  • Create detailed documentation (setup sheets) on how to setup for various sequences of machining operations.
  • Set up preliminary runs to verify accuracy and provide feedback for process improvements. Responsible for machining parts and making offset and/or program modifications based on inspection results.
  • Predict how long a project will take to complete.
  • Performs in-process inspections on parts using measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Work closely with all shop floor personnel to optimize CNC programs.
  • Responsible to collaborate with team and maintain CNC configuration management system and organize file storage electronically.
  • Plan an efficient manufacturing method to complete parts that conform to external customer quality and dimensional requirements as well as our own quality system requirements.
  • Assist with estimating run times for new Request for Quotation (RFQ) opportunities.
  • Confer with other management to resolve machining and assembly issues.
  • Observe and enforce shop floor cleanliness, ensure equipment preventative maintenance actions and documents are executed regularly, and upkeep pursuant to safety rules and company policies and holds assigned employees accountable to them.
  • Reduce machine spindle time, in various different methods for maximum production.
