Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the maintenance department's operations, focusing on the repair and upkeep of both mobile and stationary equipment, encompassing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, on both surface and underground sites, accommodating rotating shifts as necessary.

  • Provide leadership and coordination for the maintenance team, ensuring efficient execution of repairs and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Develop and implement job plans for unscheduled repairs, facilitating coordination between departments and ensuring timely completion.

  • Directly manage assigned employees, offering training on safety procedures and job requirements while enforcing accountability through coaching and disciplinary measures if needed.

  • Understand and apply collective bargaining agreements and company policies, fostering positive labor relations and effectively managing personnel matters.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations through daily inspections, training sessions, accident investigations, and cooperation with regulatory inspectors.

  • Review production equipment status, record maintenance activities in SAP, and manage work orders for timely completion.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, employee attendance, equipment downtime, accidents, and inventory levels.

  • Facilitate communication with peers, supervisors, and management regarding operational conditions and challenges, including equipment malfunctions and adverse weather conditions.

  • Conduct pre and post-shift meetings with maintenance crews to ensure readiness and discuss challenges and solutions.

  • Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of safety consciousness through regular meetings and proactive communication.

  • Analyze repair processes, materials, and work conditions to optimize efficiency and quality.

  • Assist in inventory management and supply determination for the maintenance storeroom.

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

  • Perform additional duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with at least three years of maintenance supervision experience, preferably in underground settings.

  • Proficiency in interpreting parts books, technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, and blueprints.

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, welding, rigging, diesel repair, electrical systems, and plumbing.

  • Proven ability to lead teams effectively and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.

  • Hands-on experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repair; preference given to candidates with Industrial Mechanic (433A) or Diesel Mechanic (310T) trade certification.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency in Word and Excel; SAP experience is advantageous.
