Our team is growing quickly, and we seek a talented and motivated individual to join our UGE Central Services team as Corporate Controller.

Corporate Controller Job Summary

The Corporate Controller will oversee high-level financial and managerial accounting for the company, supervising accounting operations from payroll to tax compliance. The position will report to the Head of Finance and will assist with the development of internal control policies, accounting policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.

Corporate Controller Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting including billing, general ledger and chart of accounts maintenance, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and various ad-hoc analysis.
  • Oversight/preparation of reconciliations and schedules to support the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations.
  • Oversee payments including trade payables, debts/loans, and other large quantities of cash.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of overdue payments.
  • Monitor cash and funding balances.
  • Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts.
  • Together with other senior staff, co-ordinate and prepare quarterly and year-end working paper files for external accountants.
  • Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices and maintain KPI reporting as defined by Head of Finance.
  • Together with other senior staff, ensure compliance with all local, state/province, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and public company regulatory reporting requirements.

Corporate Controller Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of senior experience in the field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license required.
  • Previous managerial experience in a Finance role.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience and proficiency in NetSuite accounting software an asset.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) under IFRS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.
  • Working knowledge of project finance structures, including tax equity, and related accounting requirements an asset.
