WHAT THE JOB LOOKS LIKE:

Under the general supervision of the Department Leader Family Services, provides clinical guidance to Behaviour Interventionists within the Behaviour Management Program. The Behaviour Consultant provides behaviour assessments, plans, documents, and implements a comprehensive behaviour program for children and youth with developmental delays.

Typical Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides an initial assessment of each child eligible for the program, using a family centered approach.
  • Develops, documents, implements, and monitors Individualized Behaviour Plans for each child in collaboration with the family, referral source and multidisciplinary team and makes changes as necessary on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops behaviour management strategies and provides child specific training and hands on demonstration of intensive behaviour interventions for Behaviour Interventionists, families and caregivers.
  • Contributes to quality improvements of the Behaviour Management Program, which includes collaborating with team members in the development and evaluation of written procedures, standards, and client materials.
  • Keeps up with the current research and developments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION TYPE: Permanent, Part-Time (0.4 FTE), Hybrid

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Master's degree in Psychology or related health field
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in assessment, planning and working with children and youth with developmental delays.
  • Ability to foster professional multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Demonstrated effective written, listening and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving and objective-setting abilities
  • Competence in organizing and chairing team gatherings
  • Exhibited aptitude in time management and organization
  • Proven capacity to offer team assistance and adaptability
