A prominent player in the building construction and home improvement market, our client stands out as a top manufacturer and supplier of distinctive, high-quality residential remodeling products. Currently, they are seeking a part-time bookkeeper to join their team.

Your new role

In this newly assigned role, your responsibilities will encompass the day-to-day bookkeeping functions. This includes entering Accounts Payable (AP) invoices and processing them for payment, verifying vendor invoices against Purchase Order (PO) receipts, and posting for payment. Your role also involves generating the AP Trial Balance and coordinating AP check runs, along with generating checks upon approval.

Additionally, you will be tasked with generating Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for payments and sending remittance advice to vendors, a process that is soon to be automated. All payment-related information will be reported to the supervisor for financial management.

On the Accounts Receivable (AR) side, your duties will involve entering AR cash receipts and posting them against customer accounts. You'll review any customer deductions against their account, generating approved credits for allowances and deductions against customer accounts. Posting payments against customer accounts and maintaining an accurate AR record will be crucial. All deposits will be reported to the supervisor for financial management.

Your role extends to generating HST and WSIB reports as required, including calculations for remittances. You will be responsible for balancing the bank against financial management controls and posting payroll as needed on a bi-weekly basis.

What you will need to succeed

To qualify for this position, a minimum of three years of relevant experience is essential. Proficiency in Sage 300 software, as well as familiarity with other accounting software, is expected. Additionally, candidates must hold a recognized Accounting/Bookkeeping designation such as CMA, CGA, CPA, or possess an accounting diploma/degree.
