Job Summary
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Mechanic, will be responsible for servicing/repairing trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, etc. in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. They will accurately fill out service orders & ensure accurate accounts of parts used while contributing to the overall success of the shop team as well as servicing the entire RSG International fleet.
Shift: Nights (Mon-Fri), 50 hrs./week
Hourly Rate: $38.24, plus $5 night shift premium
Other: On-site kitchen with daily meal allowance
** Unionized position with pension and benefits through Local 183 **
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Repair or replace faulty components
  • Conduct inspections and perform preventative maintenance tasks
  • Keep daily accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Keep shift Foreman updated with vehicle progress
  • Test vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functionality before returning to service
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve complex problems
  • Participate in weekly safety talks
  • Onsite & Roadside Service Calls
  • General Housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned and required

Qualifications
  • 3+ years' experience as a 310T mechanic, working in a fleet management or transportation environment.
  • Licensed 310T (Truck and Coach)
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other automotive systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skills with the ability to perform repairs and modifications as needed.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting vehicle and equipment issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work on a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to work in an “on-call” and “off-site” capacity on occasion.
  • Physical strength and stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
