What You'll Do:
- Provide thought leadership and guidance around new data patterns and processes.
- Willing to challenge the status quo with the goal of improving, streamlining and simplifying how we've done things in the past.
- Design, program and test data pipeline architecture.
- Design and perform integration development work and assist with data migration.
- Develop and refine data models from prototypes to confirm requirements.
- Being a real data geek; digging through data to find interesting insights, providing architecture direction and optimizations.
- Assemble large, complex data solutions that meet functional / non-function business requirements.
- Create and contribute to data patterns for analytics and data science team members that assist in building and optimizing product features and delivery.
- Author and maintain relevant documentation for developers, clients and users
- Lead and plan sprints.
- Mentor (data) developers in good techniques, patterns, processes and practices.
- Peer review other team members' code.
- 8+ years of working on data solutions with preference given to those who have a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent certificate program.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms and data pipelines in Azure or AWS.
- Experience with ETL frameworks or tools (SSIS, Informatica, Kettle or similar).
- Experience with shell scripting (bash, kshell, powershell).
- Experience working with REST APIs, flat files (csv and Excel).
- Strong experience breaking down user problems into stories and solutioning.
- Experience working on iterative projects with continuous delivery pipelines.
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
- Bonus: Working knowledge with NoSQL platforms (MongoDB, Cosmos).
- Bonus: Software development experience.
- Bonus: Experience with python packages to ingest data and perform cleansing.
- Bonus: DBA experience.
- Bonus: MySQL/MSSQL/Oracle/PgSQL experience.
- Bonus: Tuning and optimization of SQL
