The Quality Assurance Person is the science master behind the formulation and high-quality delivery of Sipology's premium tea products. As the Quality Assurance Person, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all products are formulated and manufactured at the highest levels of industry, compliance, and premium standards, delivering an excellent experience to our customers.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Quality Assurance Person does not only coordinate with other departments but also manages the Research and Development/Quality Assurance department.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include

  • Collaborate with the R&D department to manage the research, development, and approval process for new and reformulated tea products.
  • Conduct sensory panels to gather stakeholder feedback and approval and ensure product alignment with our premium standards.
  • Support the R&D department by supporting the formulation of new tea and Natural Health products by offering guidance regarding assessing ingredients and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain, update, and develop the HACCP/Pre-requisite program by developing SOPs, maintaining/updating PSA sheets, creating product specifications, conducting internal inspections, inspecting materials, and maintaining all QA/QC-related documents and quality checks.
  • Maintain BRC and FSMA compliance by updating and implementing objectives, policies, programs and practices to meet the standards.
  • Act as the internal compliance and regulatory lead by conducting products' label reviewing on nutrition fact tables and claims, and managing label/product database, tracking CFIA, FDA, and Health Canada regulations and ensuring overall compliance with specific regulatory requirements (CFIA, FDA, NHP, Organic, etc.).
  • Manage and set the direction of the QA department, applying quality and process improvement methods to continuously enhance Sipology's operations and advocate for new and improved ways of delivering results.
  • Act as a liaison between quality assurance and other departments such as R&D/ Operations and collaborate on product development projects, process improvements, and customer feedback initiatives to drive overall business success and customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate and resolve all food/packaging-related complaints by testing returned/damaged or poor-quality products, and evaluating concerns such as pesticides, GMOs, sugar, food additives, etc.
  • Ensure ultimate customer satisfaction and product improvement through resolution and incident correction/improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible quality documentation, including test results, inspection reports, and regulatory compliance records, for internal audits and regulatory inspections.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience in a relevant role, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in food sciences or a related field.
  • HACCP and GMP certification required.
  • BRC and FSMA certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of sensory programs would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including BRC, FSMA, CFIA, FDA, and NHP regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

This is a full-time position, working in person at our Ancaster office. You may be required to work extended hours occasionally to meet deadlines.
