Job Description

Title: Empowering Etobicoke Seniors Worker

Type: Part-time, Contract, Non-Union

Position summary:

The Empowering Etobicoke Seniors Worker works in the Access Centre to ensure all project requirements of the Senior's Financial and Tech literacy program are being fulfilled, consistent with ANS policies and procedures. This position will report directly to the Manager of Access.

Accountability:

The staff members of Albion Neighbourhood Services are expected to be willing, when requested, to explain the reasons for a decision or action to other staff or community members, particularly when others are affected by the decision or action. When affected by programming, policies and procedures, staff is expected to offer information and opinions when relevant for the development of new or changing services, policies, and procedures.

Reports to: Manager of Access

Supervises: N/A

ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates program to identify and prevent financial abuse and fraud directed at Seniors, while also increasing their computer and tech literacy.
  • Under the supervision of the Access Manager, develop a plan for groups sessions/ workshops on relevant topics.
  • Conduct outreach to recruit senior participants to group sessions and project.
  • Perform intake and needs assessments of the participants and collect their client data.
  • Ensure groups sessions are carried out, including all logistical issues involving refreshments, travel, and honorariums.
  • Ensure proper procurement and administration of program hardware (tablets)
  • Offer individualized supports to participants on web-based resources to better manage their finances and stay connected.
  • Develop partnerships that will support the aims of the project.
  • Produce and distribute resources developed from the group sessions.
  • Carry out evaluation of program and activities with participants.
  • Abide by all ANS policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Services or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with Seniors or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with web-based office tools.
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with the North Etobicoke community.
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a collaborative office environment.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in a second language an asset.

Hours: 8 hours per week for 28 weeks

Salary: $24/ hr.

Deadline: Friday, April 26TH, 2024 prior to 5:00pm
