The primary role of a Senior Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the design needs and business desires of a client set forth into a cohesive interior design solution while managing an efficient and high-performance team.
Responsibilities
- Exceptional drafting and project management experience with the ability to maintain good quality control while working on a variety of projects
- Competency with Local Approving Authorities who have jurisdiction in the requirements for DP and BP submissions
- Provides design development and direction from concept through to completion
- Provides ongoing review of drawing production and reports to management
- Primary contact for client and construction supervisor
- Performs meetings with the client, engages sub-consultants and reviews and co-ordinates engineers (chairs meetings)
- Attends site meetings and provides site inspections
- Reviews billing of projects internally and reviews sub-consultants' invoices
- Co-ordinates and reviews work of all design professionals and provide technical support to more junior staff
- Makes themselves available to provide the necessary support to administration staff
- Assist Sales/Marketing – in responding to new business opportunities
- Seek and identify new work associated with existing projects and clients
Qualifications
- Experience leading a project team and providing clear direction on the responsibilities of the team members
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills
- Solid understanding of project production cycles
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of project management
- Ability to lead, manage and mentor a diverse team
- Strong problem solving, team building and interpersonal skills
- Strategic, entrepreneurial, client-savvy, persuasive and a team player
- Competency with the current Ontario Building Code is essential – minimum 5 years experience
- Proven ability using and managing the current industry versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
- Capability with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Reader/Writer, Microsoft PowerPoint, Sketch-up and InDesign also an asset
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma (3+ years) interior design or interior architecture industry-recognized accredited program
- 5+ years post-graduation experience
- 5+ years commercial office design (Canadian) experience
- IDA Registered or ARIDO Licensed an asset
- NCIDQ & LEED accreditation an asset
- PMI certificate an asset
