Drake International has an exciting opportunity with an established and credible Industrial maintenance client specializing in commercial and municipal swimming pool facilities across Western and Northern Canada.
Position Overview:
The Technical Manager will play a pivotal role in setting and implementing technical standards within our client's organization. Reporting to the Construction and Operations Managers, the Technical Manager will have considerable autonomy in their primary responsibilities, including Project Mechanical/Electrical Coordination, Project Commissioning, and Facility Training & Technical Relations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical/Electrical Coordination
Define and uphold standards for equipment construction, operation, and commissioning.
Conduct thorough reviews of project documents to ensure code compliance, equipment operational requirements, and system control safety.
Develop schematic directions and operational sequences, collaborating with project consultants and commercial construction documentation processes.
Oversee the installation of control equipment by supervising the Instrumentation Technician.
Assist in project cost estimation, change order assessment, monthly progress draws, and project reconciliation.
2. Project Commissioning Agent
Coordinate pool commissioning plans with project commissioning teams, advocating for timely scheduling and task sequencing.
Lead the safe, timely, and comprehensive start-up and examination of all pool equipment, troubleshooting failures as necessary.
Mentor staff and Instrumentation Technicians in commissioning requirements.
Oversee the completion of commissioning processes and address any outstanding issues.
3. Operator Training and Technical Relations
Provide operational instructions and equipment demonstrations to pool staff, tailoring guidance to project-specific needs.
Gather operational feedback from facility staff to inform continuous improvement efforts.
Serve as a knowledge resource for clients, health authorities, and industry stakeholders on aquatic facility design and operation.
Represent Drake International's client at trade shows, conferences, and industry networking events.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Technical expertise in commercial pool equipment, with ongoing training as necessary.
5-10 years of experience in the aquatic construction/service/operational community.
Strong problem-solving skills with clear and persuasive communication abilities.
Familiarity with commercial construction operations processes and Canadian swimming pool construction codes.
Proficiency in MS Office applications for scheduling and information processing.
Excellent time management, multitasking, and delegation abilities.
Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to maintain key relationships with consultants and project team members.
Project management and cost estimating experience is an asset.
