THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager, Systems and Process, the Senior Systems Analyst will participate in major projects and campaigns, and provide processor system architecture analysis, patent assessments and functional analysis, documentation and patent portfolio development. You will provide technical and Intellectual Property support to clients and be responsible for addressing customer inquiries and concerns. Your proven experience in the SoC design and architecture, along with your excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, will be important assets in this role.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform System on Chip (SoC) analysis in support of client intellectual property campaigns.
    • Assists professional services team with building comprehensive proposals and quotations for upcoming work.
    • Evaluates feasibility of chip design using knowledge of common issues with SoC design including power management, processor load and interface
    • Makes recommendations and develops comprehensive solutions based on technical analysis and patent insight; proposes alternate solutions.
    • Collaborates with internal teams to develop reverse engineering methods and analyze results to determine relevance to patent.
  • Support clients in a variety of respects
    • Works closely with clients to gather and understand their requirements and develop technical plans for analyzing technology used in the design of SoC.
    • Addresses client inquiries and concerns
    • Assists clients in patent litigation and licensing negotiations.
  • Support internal teams in delivering customized client solutions.
    • Conducts technical and IP research.
    • Performs patent mining and analysis.
    • Documents analysis and prepares reports.
    • Participates in portfolio development.
    • Develops best practices and supports patent development and strengthening efforts (i.e. extracts inventive concepts, searches for prior art materials, etc.)

WHO YOU ARE
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 7+ years' industry experience in a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in modern microprocessor hardware and software
    • CPU/Microprocessor architecture (ARM, Intel, VLIW, Tensilica) with emphasis on microprocessor Core and SoC architecture for servers & mobile platforms
    • Interface/peripherals protocols (I2C, USB, SPI, UART) for ARM CPU architecture
    • Interconnect Architecture (Design, Bus Protocols, AMBA AHB, AXI, NoC)
    • DDR & Cache System and Memory Controller Architecture
    • Experimental techniques, lab experience in system and device-level functional testing
    • Kernel level coding and debugging, device drivers programming and IPCs, power management and scheduling.
    • GPU / GPGPU architecture is an asset (e.g., graphics pipeline, shader cores, texture processing, graphics parallel processing and memory management, etc.)
    • Xtensa Diamond Core architecture and ISA instruction set.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property services such as due diligence and patent validity studies, patent landscaping, prior art and freedom to operate searches is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple sources of information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
