JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial reports, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing a more advanced, detailed, and in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making.
This role is integral to the success of the team, assisting with the day-to-day operation of the accounting department by continuously providing guidance, training, and support to team members.
In addition, this role will play active role in maintaining a strong internal control environment through the development of consistent internal control procedures, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring compliance.
JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

    • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting processes, ensuring that transactions are posted accurately and timely, and are in accordance with IFRS standards.
    • Prepare journal entries and maintain proper supporting documentations.
    • Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of various bank accounts. Identify and investigate unreconciled transactions and provide solutions.
    • Manage all aspects of intercompany process including recharges, payments, and reconciliations.
    • Manage all aspects of fixed asset process, including capitalization, deprecation, and disposals.
    • Oversee the Accounts Receivable function including collection of overdue balances, review of payments, deductions, and shortages.
    • Review and analyze AR monthly aging reports, highlight results to management as required.
    • Oversee the Gift Card and Trintech reconciliation process for sales, cash, and credit cards.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with the sales and customer service teams to investigate issues related to billings and payments.
    • Manage the preparation of business licenses, property, sales & use tax filings.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures including internal audits and checks across all departments.
    • Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
    • Support the Senior Accounting Director with process improvement and pursuing ad hoc projects.


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Timely closing of the accounting period. Timely Group reporting
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting is required
  • Professional designation (CPA) or on path to obtaining CPA designation


EXPERIENCE

  • Prior Experience as a Sr. Accountant with 3-4 years of experience mainly focused on general accounting in a Consumer Products Company. Fashion Industry Background helpful but not required
  • Experience should be with an organization of substantial size $100M + annual revenue and more than 100 retail stores, preferred


SKILLS

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical abilities; ability to summarize data and analyze results
  • Team player with proven organizational skills; ability to handle several projects concurrently
  • SAP experience is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment


PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available to come twice a week to the Toronto Office (Hybrid)
