Reporting to the Manager, Financial and Compliance Reporting, the Junior Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting functions and providing support for the Intermediate Accountant and Claims Analyst.
NATURE OF POSITION
The Junior Accountant will support the accurate and timely operation of the finance and accounting function by performing a variety of day-to-day and period-end accounting tasks that ensure accurate, timely, relevant, and reliable financial information and reporting. This individual will have a strong attention to detail, a proven record of accomplishment of working both independently and in a team environment, and demonstrate strong initiative, communication, and organization skills. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting principles and processes in a supportive environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and cash management processes
- Prepare bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Process AP and AR, process and track payments and maintain payment records
- Assist in monthly and quarterly closing procedures
- Analyze and vouch expense claims
- Coordinate and assist with audits as needed
- Support the Finance team in other responsibilities and projects as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in full cycle accounting role
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Previous experience with not-for-profit accounting is an asset
- Previous experience with Dynamics 365 is an asset
