AGS is looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join our dynamic organization.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, Canadian Operations, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, dealing with wide variety of plant environmental issues as well as maintaining and coordinating activities within the Environmental Management System, under ISO 14001. These responsibilities relate to the Cambridge and Windsor AGS Plants, however, could include other activities to assist throughout the corporation, when required, as directed by the Environmental Manager, Canadian Operations.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions, practices and ensure that good safety processes are included in all activities.
  • Identify environmental aspects and impacts of the facilities and evaluate the significance of and prioritize those aspects and impacts.
  • Perform Plant Environmental Inspections to evaluate adherence to internal and legislated requirements and coordinate responses/follow-up to inspection findings as necessary.
  • Support evaluation of plant environmental training needs.
  • Prepare various environmental training material and conduct specific environmental training (e.g., Spills Response, TDG, Legislative Awareness and more).
  • Maintain RPRA waste registrations (formerly HWIN) and coordinate/schedule the shipment of registerable/hazardous waste.
  • Create, maintain and submit documents/reports to government agencies, where required, to fulfill regulatory requirements (eg. NPRI, ECA etc.).
  • Ensure permit conditions/requirements (eg. ECA) are implemented and being followed.
  • Act as Liaison for any inquiries and/or inspections
  • Report environmental incidents and compliance issues to the Environmental Manager immediately.
  • Investigate environmental incidences and assist the plant in determining root cause and plans for resolving the issues.
  • Participate in and coordinate the development and implementation of goals and targets for environmental / business improvements, as well as management plans to achieve those goals and targets.
  • Champion EMS Management Reviews to communicate all aspects of environmental performance to Plant Management on a regular basis.
  • Participate in and champion various improvement teams and projects including, but not limited to, the Corporate 50-5 Energy Reduction and Sustainability Initiative.
  • Develop, revise and control EMS and operational procedures and other related documentation and records.
  • Work with plant to modify procedures etc., as necessary, to remain compliant with changing regulations.
  • Participate in and/or conduct environmental testing and reporting as related to EMS or legislative requirements (e.g., soil and wastewater testing, etc.).
  • Participate in and conduct internal environmental EMS audits as well as 3R's waste audits.
  • Participate in data gathering etc. as required, to fulfill applicable legislative requirements (eg. ECA, ESDM, AAR).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an Environmental studies/science program
  • 3yrs work experience in the environmental field, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Detailed understanding of environmental legislation with a particular focus on Ontario and Federal Regs, as well as local by-laws
  • Understanding of Wastewater Treatment processes an asset.
  • Previous experience with ISO14000 implementation.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, CadnaA, AERMOD would be an asset.
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple tasks at a time, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to use judgment to solve problems based on guidelines and procedures.
  • Good organizational, communication and computer skills.
  • Valid G license.
  • Some travel to AGS plants will be required.
