DescriptionThe PMO team at GS1 Canada is looking for a results driven project manager and leader who is delivery-deadline-detail oriented and learn quickly. The project manager leads and oversees project management activities of the CRM, Ecommerce, Supply Chain, Data Governance, Portal, etc. to ensure organizational program/project strategic goals and objectives are achieved within approved timeframes, scope and budget. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects, managing scope definition, development of project artefacts, team collaboration, communication plans, development of forecast, schedule and timelines, and, ensuring the project is fully documented and understood by all stakeholders. As GS1 Canada moves toward an agile delivery model, all members of the PMO will participate in the creation of best practice and governance methods that will enable our transformation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Liaise with senior leaders and cross functional teams to execute projects of varying complexity and impact
  • Plan, schedule, and track projects, with related forecasts
  • Control project scope and communicate impact of scope changes
  • Understand and control end-to-end projects, manage thorough cross-functional workstreams and schedules
  • Facilitate schedule development by building / leveraging a straw-man plan based on experience
  • Discuss risk areas and convey impact and suggestions regarding scope and schedule
  • Integrate information from multiple sources in order to anticipate issues and identify, quantify and mitigate project risk
  • Build and support the project team, driving motivation, collaboration and alignment to project goals and outcomes
  • Track short-term project metrics (i.e., schedule variances)
  • Provide oversight of any external resources contracted to the project
  • Review and monitor the projects medium-term benefits with sponsor and other stakeholders (i.e., to support business-case alignment)
  • Contribute to GS1 Canada's PMO methodology and efficiency by developing and leading knowledge sharing activities throughout the organization
  • Implement the right-sized Project Management processes for each assigned project
  • Assess project plans with stakeholders to determine resource requirements and delegation of assignments on projects
  • Provide weekly status reports and other identified project/portfolio reporting
  • Identify project issues to sponsor, PMO and project owner as required to meet project objectives
  • Schedule and oversee projects including all documentation, specifications, vendor relations and appropriate approvals
  • Ensure that projects are effectively integrated across the organization and with targeted subscriber organizations
  • Monitor quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and communicate important issues to PMO
  • Conduct project post-mortems and retrospectives for key learning opportunities and create appropriate SOPs for PMO

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • 3-5 years proven track record of experience in a project management role with preference given to those with data management and/or agile delivery experience
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field of study (i.e. business, computer science, communications, etc.) preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Project Management body of knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Strong understanding of Project Management and SDLC methodologies with hands on proficiency with MS project and scheduling capabilities
  • Superior analytical and technical ability with strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities and manage many projects simultaneously with competing deadlines
  • Proven understanding and proficiency in risk, action, issue and decision (RAID) management and tracking
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism to establish maintain and influence collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Proven verbal and written communications skills
  • Positive can-do and take-charge attitude capable of working as part of a team as well as independently, comfortable working with some level of ambiguity
  • Ability to influence and lead others in a matrix organization
  • Drive to become a subject matter expert and work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Knowledge of current and emerging supply chain technologies and trends
  • Knowledge of Organizational Change Management (OCM) principles to support adoption and integration
  • Entrepreneurial spirit suitable for fast-paced, results-based environment requiring flexibility to everchanging needs
