Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Plant Manager you will be responsible for the daily operations and employee management of the Plant and loading Facilities. The successful applicant will have at least 10 years experience managing employees and the required skills in management of a materials manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the hiring, orientation, training, promoting, disciplining, work scheduling, and delegation of duties for all plant personnel.

  • Collaborate with the Health & Safety Coordinator to ensure a healthy and safe workplace, including documenting and updating work and safety procedures and conducting monthly health & safety meetings.

  • Plan and establish production goals and budgets based on sales and marketing forecasts, reviewing and revising them monthly.

  • Manage and oversee the maintenance of all production assets and heavy equipment at the plant, as well as all assets at the loading facility.

  • Ensure consistent product quality while maximizing production cost-effectively.

  • Maintain adequate inventories of raw and finished product.

  • Foster a respectful working environment between all plant personnel and trucking/rail companies.

  • Ensure timely loading and release of customer orders.

  • Administer and communicate all correspondence/paperwork between the plants and head office promptly.

  • Manage the purchasing function for all consumable items, leveraging the services of the Purchasing Manager when cost-effective.

  • Collaborate with the Manager – Assets & Production on special projects, production modifications/enhancements, and environmental concerns.

  • Represent company at industry functions as required.

  • Meet with senior management on a monthly basis.

  • Attend courses/seminars to update managerial and employee relations skills.

  • Provide ongoing communication and feedback to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing employees.

  • Experience in managing a materials manufacturing facility.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.

  • Ability to establish and meet production goals and budgets.

  • Experience in asset maintenance and management.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Willingness to attend industry functions and participate in ongoing education.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid driver's license.
