We are growing our team and are looking for a Jr. Mechanical Engineering Designer who will support our engineering team as we move from design to implementation of our containerized green ammonia production technology. If you want to be a part of an innovative team, and to professionally grow your career, we invite you to apply now!

Who WE are:

FuelPositive is a Canadian-based, clean technology company, working to fight climate change by creating and developing practical, clean, and sustainable carbon-free solutions that can be implemented economically now. Above all, we believe in being kind – to the earth, to each other, and to ourselves. We believe that being kind will pay dividends for us all. It's all about Fuel for a Mindful World.

What WE make:

Our lead product, an onsite, containerized Green Ammonia production system that is modular and scalable, will revolutionize clean energy through a patent-pending, first-of-its-kind technology invented in Canada. The system takes air, water and a sustainable electricity source to produce green anhydrous ammonia with no carbon emissions. Adoption will dramatically support global targets to reduce CO2 emissions. And our decentralized, in situ approach will bring supply chain independence to our first customers – farmers – for the first time.

If you want to make a Positive impact, be relevant and make a change, join our team, and become a part of the solution!

What YOU will do:

As a Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will provide engineering expertise and work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams on our current technologies pertaining to the generation of hydrogen, nitrogen, and ammonia. You will support the commercialization of our green ammonia production systems along with developing technological advancements in the areas of mechanical design under the direct supervision of our P.Eng. including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, using SolidWorks, Inventor and CAD systems. You will produce engineering drawings, bill of materials and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for machinery and systems. You will utilize your knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, and equipment to design a system that meets regulations involving hydrogen and ammonia. You will support documentation, including operator/service manuals, prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and support process design criteria. You will support the engineering and manufacturing teams with troubleshooting whilst achieving company objectives and deadlines. You will assist with project schedules and keep track of deliverables. Work with purchasing to assist with sourcing instrumentation and equipment. Safety is a priority for everything we do, so you will participate in process safety engineering in every step of the process. There may be some travel required from time to time as you will play a part in supporting the installation of our systems. There will be lots to do, so this summary is only an idea of what the role holds for you. Does this sound exciting? Keep reading below.

Who YOU are:

You've seen our values, and they resonate with you. You are passionate about participating in creating solutions to climate change and have an understanding of the role our systems play in making a positive impact on the world's fertilizer demands and food shortage issues. You have at least 2 years of industrial engineering experience working with ammonia, hydrogen and nitrogen. You have completed your post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable university. You have gained at least one year of relevant work experience in diverse areas of engineering during your Co-op work terms. Please note that preference will be given to those who have completed a full Co-op Education Program. Your previous experience exposed you to large commercial and/or industrial type projects, preferably in a startup environment. Previous working knowledge of pressure vessels, piping and other related pressurized equipment involving hydrogen and ammonia is a must. You have been exposed to hazardous area classifications, primarily about applicable class and zoning based on equipment and its functionality. You are a wizard when it comes to producing Bill of Materials as well as piping and instrumentation diagrams for machinery. You have an excellent mechanical aptitude and working experience with SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD. You are familiar with CGA numbers for gas regulation, as well as some knowledge on piping and tubing regulations. Since we are a young company, you will apply your technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes. You have experience in writing work instructions as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Demonstrated Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Project.
