Peninsula Construction Inc, a division of RSG International, is a leader in the road safety infrastructure sector. Established in 1980, we are committed to installing road safety products with the highest level of safety, expertise, and customer service to help create roadways in Ontario.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant will assist with day-to-day accounting and help with the growth and sustainability of Peninsula Construction. The successful candidate will perform full-cycle accounting and prepare and analyze various financial reports.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Review journal entries to ensure all monthly accruals are recorded.
  • Generate reports and statements as per management requests
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare HST report
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Assist in month-end and year-end processes to close books
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Provide support for audits and other financial reviews.
  • Stay up-to-date with accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as may be required.

Qualifications
  • CPA designation or working towards the CPA designation
  • 1-3 years of experience in an Accounting Administrative or Accountant role
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Proficiency in accounting software, experience with Jonas is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment and independently
  • Proven organizational skills for prioritizing demands, workflow and meeting deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of debits, credits, and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adaptable to changing business conditions and a fast-paced work environment
  • Self-starter who seeks out new knowledge and solutions
