Summary

Manage and Develop the Manufacturing Engineering department to support the Production, Operations and Sales activities. Upgrade and maintain Engineering department processes and assignee roles and responsibilities to each member of the department.

Works in coordination with Purchasing, Quality and Planning departments to ensure the correct and most efficient flow of the information inside the organization.

Job Duties

Contract review

  • Manage RFQ process for new and repeat products.
  • Analyze customer requirements for new and repeat products.
  • Ensure ERP is updated to support other department activities.

Project Management

  • Project management for new product introduction.
  • Ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables is achieved
  • Manage monthly engineering capacity plan.
  • Monitor and manage department resources, workload, and priorities.
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly.

Productivity

  • Manage productivity programs that require engineering support.
  • Oversee compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery completion.
  • Oversee departmental outputs, ensuring they meet production schedules, quality standards, as well as customer requirements.
  • Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.
  • Drive Productivity initiative to achieve yearly targets.

Management

  • Develop performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals.
  • Translate strategic goals into executable tasks.
  • Communicate to staff under your direction clear goals and expectations.
  • Ensure the department comply with company policies, procedures, ethical and safety standards.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the department through strategic hiring, assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Provide performance evaluation, feedback, and coaching, training, and development.
  • Provide informal feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis.

Safety

  • Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment and follow safe work practices.
  • Oversee all manufacturing and processing procedures, the setting of machine or equipment controls, as well as the production and inspection processes.
  • Participate in H&S committee
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Degree or an advanced degree in a manufacturing field related to industry; or
  • Certifications or licenses appropriate to manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Five years of experience in a management role within Aerospace manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
