Salary:

We are a composite manufacturing shop in Toronto looking for a dedicated and energetic quality focused individual to join our team as a Spray Painter.

Typical shop hours run: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Job Duties

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Spray Painter will prep parts, apply primer, paint and clearcoat to manufactured composite parts. This person will also maintain paint, paint equipment and accessories as applicable. Specific duties Include:

  • Follow production work orders to execute order requirements
  • Prepare materials, check paint viscosity and ensure parts have been prepared, masked and cleaned accurately prior to painting
  • Using a spray gun, coat the surface of parts, assemblies and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as primer, paint and clear coats according to part drawing specifications and engineering documentation
  • Complete curing of parts using appropriate baking procedures
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with the equipment/paint booth as they arise
  • Maintain spray guns/equipment, ventilation and personal protective equipment
  • Follow ISO 9001 and AS 9100 procedures accordingly
  • Adhere to top notch safety standards and work practices
  • Assist with other shop projects, duties and responsibilities as needed

MUST HAVE Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • 2+ years' experience using spray painting equipment, mixing paint and cleaning lines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and willingness to learn
  • Experience with HVLP style paint gun or similar equipment
  • Experience with spraying clear coats

Nice to have skills and experience:

  • Experience mixing paint per TDS
  • Experience with baking painted parts per TDS
  • Experience with semi- down draft paint booth
  • Experience with body work and prepping
  • Experience with Paint booth maintenance

Working conditions

PCI promotes a safe and clean working environment that meets or exceeds standards prescribed by the Ministry of Labour (Ontario). Work will be conducted indoors in our manufacturing shop. Personal protective equipment will be necessary when operating on the shop floor including safety shoes (CSA Green Triangle) and safety glasses. Respiratory protection, hearing protection, appropriate gloves and work suits will be mandatory as required. All candidates must be able to correctly utilize respiratory protection, hearing protection, appropriate gloves and work suits.

Other conditions include:

Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts, on occasion, based on demanding manufacturing schedules

Physical requirements:

  • Stand for long periods of time. Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repeat the same movements. Bend or twist their body. Climb ladders, kneel, stoop, or crouch for long periods.
  • PCI manufactures products that contain products that may act as an irritant that triggers an allergic reaction as asthmatic symptoms in susceptible workers.
  • Heavy Lifting Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
