The Canalta Group of Companies is a privately held Canadian owned company focusing on the manufacturing and service of industrial control and measurement equipment, specifically targeting the gas industry and supplying product internationally. We are currently recruiting for a Safety Coordinator at our head office in Red Deer, AB.

What will you do?

  • Maintain the administration and documentation of Canalta's Safety program including ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Monitor incident frequencies and safety violations, reporting consistently.
  • Assist in all investigations and complete related documentation.
  • Perform formal and field level hazard assessments.
  • Regularly monitor safety compliance, complete safety related training of workers & facilitate new worker safety orientations.
  • Conduct site inspections, identify corrective actions and communicate with department managers as needed.
  • Ensure completion of regular inspection reports, deficiencies are corrected and entered in WorkHub.
  • Lead/Participate in safety meetings, toolbox meetings, and promote health and safety awareness.
  • Complete all reporting to WCB and maintain communication regarding open files.

What do you need?

  • 5+ years of safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with Injury Claims Management
  • Possess the demonstrated ability to motivate self and others
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision
  • Have good working knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and industry standards as they apply to the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to create, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Relevant Post-Secondary education in HSE is an asset
