We are currently looking for a Team Leader to join our team in one of our residential locations.

About the Position:

Team Leaders are on-the-floor supervisors, working alongside the teams they lead in providing direct supports and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring the delivery of services as per support plans, adherence to company and licensing requirements and policies/protocols, motivating, coaching and delivering feedback to staff, and most importantly ensuring all individuals and staff are treated with dignity and respect.

As a Team Leader, you are responsible to:

  • Advocate for the inclusion, interdependence and wellness of the people we support, while creating a safe, healthy and engaging environment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by supporting individuals to meet their goals: i.e., life skills, vocational or recreational activities.
  • Ensuring the overall health and medical needs of the people we support are met. This includes all aspects of personal care, attending all assigned outings, and applying physical supports safely (in instances of an individual demonstrating self-harming behaviours).
  • Ensure documentation and administrative duties are complete, accurate, up to date and up to standard, such as: following financial plans and program budget monitoring, incident reports, logs, communication book notes, etc., as well as monitoring support and safety plans.
  • Train and supervise the staffing team, including providing employee orientation, training and support, as well as managing staff schedules and assisting with shift coverage.
  • Ensure home(s) and vehicle(s) are maintained and in good repair, including learning to perform basic house maintenance tasks and providing transportation within the community and to appointments as necessary.
  • Respond to on-call crisis situations.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent with previous supervisory experience. Post-secondary education related to human services is preferred; however, a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in providing service to adults with intellectual disabilities that would be labeled as high risk/challenging to support is preferred, with the ability to handle and de-escalate crisis and conflict situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making, communication (written and verbal) skills. This includes Maintaining regular communication with stakeholders including internal team members, family members and external professionals.
  • Committed to leading a team and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Professional and ethical in all situations.
  • Competent and experienced with computers and Microsoft Office programs.

Position Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5F driver's license with acceptable driver's abstract. Access to a reliable vehicle is preferred, and willing to transport people supported as required.
  • Able to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with a clear vulnerable sector search, and clear adult and child abuse registry checks (document will be considered current if obtained less than three (3) months prior to start of employment).
  • Current valid First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications (where certifications do not exist, training and certification will be provided).
  • Must be over the age of 18 (Legal requirement).
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM -3:00 PM, and working an on-call rotation (which includes evenings and weekends). On-call is scheduled on a rotation to ensure a healthy work/life balance. Team Leaders may be required to work additional hours on evenings or weekends to meet operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Position may involve physical activity such as lifting, transferring, and transporting persons supported and equipment, and/or pushing wheelchairs, including up and down ramps.
  • Lift up to 50lbs alone.
  • Ability to swim (for some positions).

  • $200 signing bonus after six months of continuous employment (full-time and part-time positions).
  • Hourly paid: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour.
