Job description

CBI Solar is currently seeking a contract, or employee, Field Safety Coordinator based in Alberta for ongoing solar projects. The successful candidate must be capable of providing guidance to ensure a safe work environment, ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, governmental laws and regulations.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with client representative on a daily basis
  • Maintain a mature and professional relationship with personnel in the work area
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and reports including a Job Safety Analysis and Hazard Analysis
  • Conduct and report accident/incident investigations in a timely manner
  • Collect and enter site safety performance and metrics
  • Ensure compliance with company, client, and government safety requirements
  • Lead routine safety meetings with workers at all levels
  • Maintain a clean company vehicle and transport other employees/clients as needed
  • Understand construction processes and initiate safety improvements
  • Notify and keep the Safety Coordinator / Manager up to date with issues on site
  • Complete projects regarding Occupational Safety and Health as assigned
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of CBI Solar's Safety Culture
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position
  • Participate in Health & Safety committee meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Certifications:

  • NSCO or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial regulations as it relates to safety and health and other applicable regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, climbing and walking on gravel and other uneven surfaces
  • Must be comfortable working outside in all types of weather conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office platform, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Meet deadlines and finish projects in a timely manner
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Driver's Licence (Class 5 minimum) with clean 3-year drivers' abstract
  • Standard First Aid/CPR – Level C
  • CSTS 2020 (Construction Safety Training System)

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires extensive and/or prolonged travel and the ability to work away from home for up to 21 days
