Blindside Networks is an Ottawa-based company that develops BigBlueButton, a virtual classroom system that focuses on providing built-in tools for applied learning and analytics to ensure every student learns (https://bigbluebutton.org).

We earn revenue by providing professional services and hosting for BigBlueButton to universities, colleges, K12 and other educational organizations world-wide. We host BigBlueButton, at scale, in four regions around the world: Canada, North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. Since Covid-19, we have hosted over two billion minutes of virtual classes.

We sell direct world-wide and indirectly through our channel partnerships, primarily through our built-in integration with major learning management systems: Canvas, Schoology, and Moodle -- together they comprise over 60% of the world's LMS market. They are our channel to customers world-wide.

Blindside Networks is looking for a Sales Account Manager to handle both pre-sales and post-sales (account management) to ensure our customers are able to deliver the most effective virtual classes to their students.

About this Role

The ideal candidate is one who has already worked through the ranks of customer management/sales and has sold products and services to the educational market or associated SaaS industry (if any names of the companies listed above are familiar to you, that's a bonus!).

Our company is growing, and we are looking for a candidate who can excel in roles, both as a Hunter and a Farmer. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth by closing new leads and managing relationships with our existing customer base.

This job role comprises two parts - firstly, managing the inbound leads, lead qualification, product demo and closing sale. Secondly, strengthening relationships with our existing customer base and leverage our customer base for new opportunities and markets world-wide.

If you speak multiple languages, that is a bonus too.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage key customer relationships, ensuring all pre-sales related issues are resolved.
  • Manage customer relationships, renewal cycles, contracting and invoicing.
  • Drive expansion revenue by closely working with customers to increase the product adoption, thereby helping them achieve their learning outcomes.
  • Drive top-line revenue by closing inbound leads through effective qualification, follow up and product demonstrations.
  • Regularly report on sales activities, pipeline status, customer renewals to assist with quarterly and annually projections.
  • Effectively update and manage CRM to ensure timely follow ups with leads and keep up the engagement with active customers.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and market needs. Use this knowledge to inform sales strategies and product development suggestions.
  • Work closely with the marketing, product development, and customer support teams to ensure a cohesive and effective sales strategy and customer experience.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • University degree or College diploma in Business Administration, Marketing or related technical education.
  • 3+ years of sales or account management experience in the education market (or related market).
  • Proven track record of consistent goal achievement with a result-driven mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to work remotely under minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong technical knowledge (understanding and selling web-based applications).
  • Proficiency in CRM solutions - like Salesforce, Hubspot, Zendesk, Zensell etc.

  • Expert ping-pong skills are an asset
