Your Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an intermediate level Application Engineer in Calgary, Alberta to support the sales and engineering activities for the company and is primarily focused on providing technical support to the Business Development/Sales, Project Management and Operations teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising potential customers on our cleantech and cryogenic gas system delivery products that support emission reductions at oil and gas sites.

Working in conjunction with the business development and operations teams, you are the key technical advisor who will passionately advocate for our products, while clearly articulating the technology and product positioning to our potential business, technical and non-technical users. You will provide technical bid support, solution recommendations and cost estimates based on customer system requirements for the Business Development team. You will answer inquiries from clients, and you will provide technical expertise to the project management and operations team concerning equipment deployment and commissioning in customer applications.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Advise customers on Kathairos' solution offerings for eliminating methane emissions at remote oil and gas sites and provide technical support throughout the sales and project lifecycles.
  • Support the BD/Sales team in accurately defining project scope, specification review and costs through detailed estimates and technical proposals, including scoping and selection of in-house methane mitigation solutions and regional development in the design/engineering of commercial assets.
  • Evaluate customer site technical data and prepare reports to summarize project details, such as estimating methane emissions at customer locations using government protocols, field data, and industry studies and best practices.
  • Assist sales with modelling and optimization of equipment.
  • Confirm the availability of equipment and critical path components, to meet customer specifications and required delivery schedule.
  • Active participation in clarification and kickoff meetings
  • Active collaboration between business development, project management, and operations teams
  • Interface with all departments during the sales hand-off to project execution phase
  • Provide technical support during deployment and field commissioning.
  • Maintain customer and vendor relationships and participate in clarification meetings, as required.
  • Assist in creating and delivering technical presentations and training sessions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to build the tools and improve processes to standardize or simplify day-to-day work and improve consistency.
  • Occasional site visits may be required to gather details needed for proposals and/or to provide technical assistance.
  • Understanding of industry Codes and Standards
  • Champion our core values and serve as an ambassador for safe work practices through all phases of the project.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred) or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of related technical experience. Prior upstream/midstream oil and gas or industrial gas experience considered a strong asset.
  • Expert communicator able to develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with customers and vendors. Able to explain technical equipment and processes effectively to our clients.
  • Must be self-directed, self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a high performance, dynamic work environment.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills to consistently meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings such as PFD, P&ID and layout drawings.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites within North America may be required to meet company and project needs. (May require a Valid Passport and Driver's License)
  • Pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol test, and a criminal background check may also be required based on the safety requirements of the customer's specific worksite.
  • May be assigned other duties, in addition to or in lieu of those described above, and any duties are subject to change at any time according to the needs of the location or company.

Valued

  • P.Eng or P.Tech (Eng) APEGA would be an asset.
  • Prior Oil & Gas, Industrial gas or cryogenic fluids considered a strong asset.
