Role Summary

The successful IT Director will be a visionary leader who is ready to shape the future of information technology of Eavor. Driving the strategic direction and delivering exceptional IT services, this role will lead the optimization and implementation of strategic innovative solutions aligning with our organizational directives.

This hybrid role is based in Calgary, Alberta, requiring local and international travel based on business needs.

Some of What you Will Do:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategic plan to sustain and enhance infrastructure, drive continuous improvement, and successfully execute projects.
  • Manage the development of process improvement; measure the effectiveness of related processes through metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive actionable improvements.
  • Security Metrics and Reporting: Establish key security performance indicators (KPIs) and report on the state of the company's security to executive leadership and stakeholders regularly.
  • Implement best practices to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our technology systems.
  • Lead, expand and manage the monitoring for threats and vulnerabilities and response; incorporate learnings into additional preventive and detective controls as a continuous feedback loop; focus is blended between execution and tactical planning and participation in strategic planning; contribute to tactical plans and monitor progress
  • Cybersecurity Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to safeguard digital assets.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to GDPR compliance standards while leading the implementation of NIST 2.0 compliance requirements.
  • IT Security Management: Oversee the management of IT security operations, including risk assessment, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Internal IT System Management: Working with the IT Manager, set strategic direction for the use of IT systems in the operation and hybrid offices
  • Vendor management: Oversee and optimize the relationships with external technology vendors or service providers. Cultivate and manage vendor relationships, facilitating the acquisition of new technology, software, and equipment as needed.
  • Data Analytics: Manage and calibrate data analytics to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity, as well create and maintain a process that can facilitate serving all departments on an ongoing, consultative basis.
  • Technology Proficiency: Demonstrate cybersecurity knowledge in cloud framework, Workspace and other relevant tools to optimize our security infrastructure.
  • Research and develop vulnerability mitigation strategies, in accordance with industry best practices, which can be immediately implemented by the appropriate technical teams; provide ongoing subject matter expert support for all remediation/mitigation processes; manage vulnerability scanning platform, including platform performance, agent health, and platform governance.
  • Policy Development and Enforcement: Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, procedures, and standards to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage security risks across the organization. This includes conducting risk assessments, establishing risk management frameworks, and ensuring the organization's risk tolerance aligns with its business goals.
  • Security Awareness Training: Develop and deliver security awareness and training programs to educate employees about security threats, best practices, and their role in safeguarding company data.
  • Incident Response and Management: Create the incident response process & reporting in the event of security breaches or incidents. Develop incident response plans, coordinate responses, and ensure timely resolution while minimizing damage.
  • Collaborate with business groups to formulate strategies leveraging existing technology as a competitive advantage.
  • Assess, develop, and oversee change management, disaster recovery, and backup procedures.
  • Communicate and promote best practices across the organization.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies with potential benefits for the organization.
  • Security Audits and Assessments: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to assess and validate the effectiveness of security controls, compliance with regulations, and alignment with best practices.
  • Security Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging security technologies and evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing the organization's security posture.
  • Assist members with incorporating effective security and privacy practices in their strategic planning
  • Provide direct support to staff members in the event of a cyber security incident and work as part of an interdisciplinary cyber security incident response team
  • Create and nurture a culture of ongoing awareness of the various cyber security, safety and data privacy threats by participating in provincial working groups and committees that promote best practices
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the cybersecurity budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support security initiatives and projects.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Keep abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and ensure that Non Stop remains in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to information security.

Some of What you Will Need:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, privacy, data analytics or required work experience roles with strong understanding cybersecurity compliance standards.
  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent technical training in a computer science or information technology discipline.
  • Experience driving change and creating a culture of security within the organization.
  • Proven successful leadership experience in a senior IT role or a similar senior security leadership position.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize projects and tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in working within a Microsoft Azure and Office 365 environment.
  • Ability to develop a plan and implement it accordingly.
  • Proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff across multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without restrictions
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
