ESF is currently seeking an enthusiastic Control Systems Engineer to join our growing team in North Bay, Ontario. Overview
Engineering Search Firm is looking for the right team member to join our growing engineering services division. The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the designs generated within the Company related to electrical, electronic, networking, automation, programming and control systems.
Location: North Bay, Ontario Start date: Immediately Remote Work: No Responsibilities
•
Certify designs, calculations, and reports as necessary
•
Develop electric, electronic, networking, automation, programming and control system design solutions based on engineering principles
•
Design and implement control software specific to customer and project requirements
•
Provide technical support to internal and external customers
•
Ensure all relevant regulatory requirements are met
•
Identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget
•
Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements
•
Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting the design
•
Specify system components to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
•
Commission customized products and systems in house and at customer facilities as requested by management
•
Develop, evaluate and implement innovative technical solutions
•
Participate directly in the design and development of technical projects
•
Participate directly in the engineering work of the department
•
Responsible for guiding any contractors and double-checking their work is performed to the Engineering standards
•
Be a mentor for EITs as it relates to their development and eligibility for PEO licensing
•
Maintain accurate records and files according to Company standards
•
Complete tasks on time and within budget or notify the Engineering Manager of an alternative plan
•
As requested by management, participate in developing and/or implementing strategies, visions, goals and specific business development opportunities
•
Working directly with clients as required and requested by management, providing services such as; system assessment, coordinating on project requirements, establishing project scope, design of control systems and related aspects, commissioning of systems, system training
•
Other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager
•
Comply with established rules, procedures, and Health & Safety Policy mandates and report any non-compliance
•
Ensure all initiatives and processes are in conformance with the Company's established policies and corporate priorities Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications, Experience, Education
•
2+ years' experience as a certifying (stamping) Engineer in a Mechatronics or Control Systems engineering environment. Other disciplines may be considered based on experience.
•
Firsthand experience in the field of robotics, automation, mechanical design, custom machinery, and/or control systems
•
Aptitude to conceptualize automation solutions to complex manufacturing challenges working collaboratively within a team
•
Strong fundamental knowledge of mechanical design and its application
•
Computer software/hardware/programming/automation/controls experience
•
Sound knowledge of electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulic and automation controls/programming principals
•
Able to read and create schematic drawings
•
Find viable solutions for technical problems
•
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
•
Proficient in Electrical software, Industrial and mobile PLC software, and MS Office
•
Able to handle multiple projects and activities simultaneously
•
Able to work independently or in a team environment
•
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
•
Moderate overtime may be required with the approval of the Engineering Manager, to complete a job within the project timeline
•
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration
•
Valid driver's license
•
Willingness and ability to travel without restriction both within and outside of Canada
•
Willingness and ability to fulfill the requirements of this position in a mining environment including (but not limited to) working in, on and around dirty mining equipment, spaces and activities
•
Full use of all senses including physical ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, reach, walk, climb, and maneuver safely around the office, underground and surface equipment, and manufacturing equipment
•
Must have the ability to use and wear personal protective equipment as required
