The Opportunity

We are currently looking to hire a full-time Program Supervisor in Red Deer, AB who is committed to succeeding with our agency by supporting children, families, and the communities we serve!

Reporting to the Senior Program Supervisor, Service Delivery, the Program Supervisor enjoys supporting families from all backgrounds throughout the intake process through to discharge. Well-organized and knowledgeable about residential home care, disability services and complex behavioural care, the Supervisor is experienced in applying trauma-informed practices, using continuous quality approach models and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The Supervisor oversees CarePros front-line service providers and is responsible for ensuring that services staff deliver meet the needs of our clients and families in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with CarePros policies and industry standards.

What You'll Do

As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Ensure that staff deliver support in a caring and respectful manner
  • Manage CarePros front-line staff by providing the following: 1:1 Coaching
  • Detailed performance management
  • Time and attendance management
  • Training and development of front-line staff
  • Monitoring of productivity and the organization of staff's workflows
  • Completing Critical Incident Reports
  • Working closely with other departments in the organization (People & Culture, Finance, Communications, etc.)
  • Liaising with important internal and external stakeholders including Children's Services, FSCD, PDD, Etc.
  • Provide on-call support to programs and clients as needed

Who You Are

As a Supervisor, you possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of mental wellness practices and the processes and procedures involved in providing effective home care
  • Experience working with clients in Children's Services
  • Knowledge of CPR and First Aid techniques needed to assess and treat injuries
  • Proficiency in the English language, with the ability to comprehend instructions and communicate in a clear and logical manner
  • Ability to actively listen, absorb information, and facilitate appropriate dialogue
  • Recognize and understand emotions and handle situations with empathy
  • Build and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships
  • Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data and analysis
  • Effective team player who will work closely and support our Client & Community Relations Manager with all home care assessments and scheduling needs
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to define problems and determine effective solutions by assessing information from a variety of sources and identifying the root-cause of problems. Able to apply reason and logic to identify strengths and weaknesses of possible solutions
  • Flexibility to be on-call as needed

Other qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience supervising or managing front-line care staff
  • 5+ years experience working with Children's Service, Family Support for Children with Disability (FSCD)
  • 3-5 years of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or individuals with mental health concerns
  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Addictions / Mental Health, Child and Youth Care, or another related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Standard First Aid and Level C CPR + AED
  • Class 5 Driver's License, vehicle insurance coverage and a clear Driver's Abstract
  • Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 3 months)
  • Intervention Record Check (within the last 3 months)

Training related to the following is considered an important asset:

  • Trauma Informed Care
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • The Brain Story Certificate
