Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the role of the Intermediate Project Estimator is to diligently prepare detailed and accurate engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) cost estimates. The Intermediate Project Estimator bears the responsibility of delivering a comprehensive proposal for high voltage electrical projects, showcasing their expertise and attention to detail. In addition to estimating project costs, the Intermediate Project Estimator excels in identifying valuable opportunities for value engineering and other cost-saving measures, contributing to the organization's overall efficiency and success.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete proposals while ensuring compliancy with RFP requirements. This includes the preparation of complete cost estimates for electric transmission, distribution, substation, generation and industrial projects
  • Prepare Project Specific Environmental Plan
  • Hand-off all estimates to the PM group after contract award
  • Assist project team with the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders
  • Participate in project post mortem review meetings
  • General Tasks as required

Requirements

  • Electrical Technologist Diploma and/or Journeyman Electrician required, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Candidate must possess experience in understanding blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labour estimates for projects and services
  • 3 or more years of experience in the Electric Utility Industry
  • Posses 3-5 years of estimating knowledge of electric distribution, transmission and substation projects is preferred
  • Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
  • Proficiency in all applications within Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to use a computer and have the ability to learn new software's.
  • Must excel in analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Self-driven and have the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time
  • A team player whom is able to work with various partners from start until finish
  • Travel may be necessary throughout Canada – must hold a valid driver's license
