Reporting Relationships: Vice President, Project Portfolio

Position Summary:

The Junior Modeler EIT is responsible for assisting in the planning and design of water and wastewater conveyance facilities; to include pipelines, pump stations, storage tanks, distribution vaults. This may include working on drainage design, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (using various models and methods), and preparation of design plans, reports and technical memoranda. The Junior Modeler EIT provides advice and support to supervisors and ensures that they have accurate and timely information in order to make effective decisions.

Responsibilities:

1. Modeling Preparation

    • Prepare model documentation including modelling plan and all assumptions according to client and Project Manager direction.

2. Modeling

    • Prepare hydraulic and hydrology models.
      • Single‐event and continuous rainfall modeling
      • Watershed analysis, hydrograph and peak discharge development and routing
      • Pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, pump stations, pressure pipe, bridge sizing and scour, sediment transport, revetment design, and coastal considerations for highway drainage
      • Flood analysis
      • Stormwater quantity / quality calculations
    • Complete engineering analysis and calculations.
    • Prepare engineering services, scope of work and associated budgets.
    • Perform project management duties.
    • Prepare studies, reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for civil and water resources projects

3. Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions: Normal working hours in an office environment. likely deal under tight deadlines, and may be required to work overtime to meet deadlines. The Junior Modeler EIT will have to manage multiple requests and tasks at one time and must be prepared to re-prioritise efforts at any time depending on the situation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering.
  • 2-3 years of water resources experience.
  • Sound understanding of storm drainage, stormwater management systems, environmental related principles, and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology.
  • Working knowledge of the following software:
    • EPA SWMM
    • SWMSoft
    • PC SWMM
    • Civil 3D
    • ArcGIS
    • Infoworks ICM
    • Infoworks ICM SE
    • HECRAS
    • HEC-HMS
    • AutoCAD
  • Hydrology modeling skills
  • Hydraulic modeling skills
  • Data analysis
  • Effective written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and technical memorandums.
  • Effective verbal and listening skills.
  • Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products.
  • Organized and self-motivated individual with initiative and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced consulting environment.
