Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Job Purpose:
A Custodial Specialist (Heavy Duty Cleaner) is generally responsible for the following tasks as assigned including the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces, carpet extraction and the cleaning of all surfaces that must be reached by ladder and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage compactor.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cleans glass and or high dust in areas requiring ladders
• Detail clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
• Washes walls, dusts ceiling light fixtures and ceiling fans at established intervals.
• Dusts and wipes all facility fixtures
• Dust mops large floor surface areas
• Washes large floor surface using mop, walk behind or a ride on floor machine
• Wipes high level ledges and windowsills
• Cleans walls and partitions
• Polishes chrome and stainless steel as required
• Cleans partition glass and facility pillars/posts that are within arm's reach
• Delivers and stocks cleaning supplies as required
• Power wash curbside area as required
• Place and take down airline stanchions as scheduled
• Transports cleaning machinery, when necessary, between floors and work areas.
• Removes and transports garbage from drop points to garbage compactor
• Clean facility maintenance rooms as scheduled
• Strips and wax hard surfaces
• Cleans large tenant areas as required
• Cleans and disinfects washroom floors
• Dusts baseboards and high air vents
• Scrubs and detail clean stairwells as required
• Vacuums large carpeted areas
• Shampoo and extract carpeted areas
• Empty and washes/wipes inside and outside of waste/garbage container
• Cleans medical spills and or floods as required using proper PPE
• Litter pick up of debris on floor & cigarette butts (curbside)
• Removes garbage bags/bins from designated area and transports to compactor room
• Prioritizes and attends to spills calls immediately
• Cleans and tidy stock room at the end of shift
• Responds to radio calls and follows the radio protocol as required
• Ensures the proper tools are used for the designated task
• Ensures the proper colour coded cloth is used for designated tasks
• Snow removal, curbside & building exterior as required
• Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment before and after usage
• Responsible for keys and assigned equipment
• Ensures use of iOS technology-based equipment is used to track and verify tasks, pickups and to ensure compliance and mitigate risk in assigned cleaning area
• Completes all other duties as required or assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

• Attends all required health & safety training
• Works in a safe manner and follows safe work instructions and assists in prevention
• Complies with H&S regulations and company safety policies and procedures
• Attends all technical training for the role as required
• Engages and assists passengers in the terminal as necessary
• Becomes an I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador
• Does not operate any equipment without prior training
• Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including but not limited to CSA approved steel-toe protective shoes
• Reports any unsafe conditions, hazards and all workplace injuries to supervisor or manager
• Participates in the early and safe return to work process as per our RTW policy
