ABOUT THE STUDENTS' UNION

The University of Alberta Students' Union (UASU) is the official student-run organization for undergraduates at the University of Alberta. We aim to improve the undergraduate student experience through the services, events and spaces that we provide. We also advocate on behalf of students within the university community, and to all levels of government.

Overview

The Student Services department is a creative, collaborative place where programs, supports and involvement opportunities are run by and for the students they serve. This position supports a team of student and professional staff in their work to ensure that student services remain cutting-edge, pertinent, and aligned with the present interests of students. Current services offered include a peer based mental health support program, information services, a volunteer-based safe walk program, a bike library, a reusable dish program, a campus garden and a sustainability focused market.

    1. Proactively create and maintain relationships with key service partners, including other UASU staff, University of Alberta staff, and the staff of other student associations;
    2. Actively facilitate two-way communication so the UASU remains apprised of important developments in the work of our partners, and that partners understand the direction and goals of the UASU.
    3. Manage issues that emerge in the course of these relationships with a goal of resolution, and provide advice on escalation when necessary;
    4. Provide advice to the executive committee about the state of relationships, emerging issues, and developments in key campus areas.
  6. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant General Manager.
