About the Opportunity

Working closely with the Product and Engineering teams, the Junior Business Systems Analyst will support the planning, reviewing, and documenting of new feature specifications for SpacesEDU. You will ensure that solutions proposed by the product team are thoroughly considered and are in a state ready for development. Your day-to-day tasks will include translating business requirements into technical specifications, reviewing new feature requests and ideas with the product team, and identifying the impact of new updates on the application's existing functionality. If you are interested in working with a passionate group of people to create solutions that improve student success and you have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, then this role could be a perfect fit for you!

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure new feature requirements and specifications are thoroughly reviewed, defined, analyzed, and documented from both business and technical perspectives
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and business needs to technical teams to facilitate planning, scoping, and prioritization activities
  • Act as a product expert by maintaining an in-depth understanding of how our applications function, and identify how the introduction of new functionality will impact existing systems
  • Demonstrate the impact of proposed solutions through the use of current and future state comparisons
  • Present concepts and ideas through the use of diagrams such as process flow diagrams and state diagrams
  • Provide alternative options with accompanying analyses of benefits and drawbacks
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with project objectives and that risks and feasibility concerns are identified and resolved
  • Provide support to development and quality assurance teams by clarifying project requirements, keeping documentation updated, leading requirements walkthroughs, and aiding testing initiatives

What an ideal candidate will have:

  • Education or professional experience equivalent to a Bachelors' Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; the ability to systematically analyze issues, draw logical conclusions, and identify/recommend alternatives
  • The ability to interpret business/design needs and translate them into technical specifications for development and testing
  • Strong communication and knowledge sharing skills; must be able to explain complex, technical concepts and ideas to a non-technical audience
  • Strong documentation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with information and process modelling techniques (e.g. state diagrams, process flow diagrams, user flow diagrams, ER models, BPMN)
  • Prioritization, conflict management, and risk management skills; ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders

Bonus points for:

  • Hands-on web or mobile application programming experience
  • Experience with user acceptance testing

Please note that while our team works remotely majority of the time, local employees are expected to work in our office (located in Downtown Toronto) at least once a month for our recurring in-office days:

Our Hiring Process

Every new hire will have a huge impact on our organization, so we take both the hiring process and the candidate experience seriously - we know that an interview goes both ways! We will keep an open line of communication throughout the process and ensure there is time at the end of all interviews for candidates to ask any questions.

Our hiring process will generally follow this format:

  1. An introductory phone interview with our People team to discuss the opportunity in more detail; we'll learn more about you and you'll learn more about us!
  2. A virtual interview with the Hiring Manager to go over your background, the position, and the organization in more detail; we'll dive deeper into the job-specific and technical components of the role, as well as behavioural aspects.
  3. A short take-home project for you to complete on your own time; this will give you a better understanding of the work we do as it will be reflective of the role you're applying for.
  4. A virtual onsite interview for you to meet additional team members; you'll get to meet with cross-functional stakeholders and gain a holistic view of what life at myBlueprint will look like.
  5. We extend an offer and you join our team! Offers will be contingent upon successful reference checks and background checks.

Please note that all interviews are being conducted virtually at this time via Zoom.

At myBlueprint, we are committed to building and fostering a workplace where our employees feel included, valued, and heard. We aim to have a barrier-free recruitment and selection process and will work with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage. We embrace the diverse perspectives and experiences from all backgrounds and encourage interested candidates to apply, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, citizenship, disability, national origin, or any other protected status. If your experience does not 100% match the job description, or if you are unsure about whether or not you qualify, we still encourage you to apply - there are many pathways to a successful career, and we would like to hear about yours!
