Job Description

Mission

The Distribution Manager will have the responsibility of leading a portfolio of projects related to Distribution network systems. They will need to have a strong technical background on Distribution, knowledge of utility standards and CSA standards. The ability in promoting innovative ideas/ solutions to benefit a wide range of projects. In addition to the engineering scope, this role can include business development activities, strategic development of the practice, developing the team, and supporting all part of CIMA+ business. Working directly with the senior management team within the Energy & Resources group, the Manager will be expected to positively contribute to the performance, growth, and profitability of the business. This is a hybrid role that can be based in any of our offices in British Columbia (Vancouver, Kelowna, Rossland).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review/prepare feasibility studies, engineering deliverables for overhead and underground distribution systems as well as technical calculations including structural pole loading, voltage drop and cable pulling
  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team from proposal to project delivery (perform Quality Control checks)
  • Continually seek to improve on performance levels by taking advantage of new technology and anticipating changes in Market practices, industry trends, process trends and best practices
  • Support the PM team to resolve contractual issues on existing contracts, acting to identify and mitigate actual and/or potential problems
  • Develop and maintain close business relationships with internal and external clients and management teams to align delivery requirements / standards with client expectations
  • Develop a culture of teamwork, resilience and high performance, ensure all employees are maximising their potential; Collaborate with the team, convey positive messages, encourage collaboration, and participate in the synergy between multidisciplinary teams
  • Support the Business Development team for operational strategy related to Distribution market including following market trends and identifying opportunities for CIMA+, and making presentations to potential new clients
  • Interrogate performance metrics for existing contracts, in conjunction with the senior management team to evaluate existing profitability, risk and establish whether we are fulfilling our contractual obligations
  • Be responsible and accountable for the Distribution market's financial results including control, monitoring and management of overhead cost, expenditure, invoicing, debt management and risk management
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Engineering
  • Over 10 years of experience within the Energy/Utility market
  • Excellent technical leadership, positive attitude and communication skills
  • An entrepreneurial approach and the ability to take on challenges in a changing environment
  • Ability to work with remote partners and team members
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees
  • Available for occasional travel (mostly within Western Canada)

The expected salary for this position is from $122,400.00 to $153,000.00 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
