Contract: July 2 – August 30, 2024 (9 weeks)

Hours of Work: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week

Job Description:

The Senior Day Camp Counsellor leads groups of up to 12 children aged 6-17, overseeing program planning, delivery, supervision, and communication with parents/guardians and the community. They ensure the safety and well-being of all participants while providing a fun, engaging camp experience. You will supervise the support workers' 1 staff to 3 ratio. You will report to the program coordinator and clinical supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead program activities including recreation, sports, arts, games, social skills,
  • Assist with program planning and coordinating daily schedules.
  • Support children with peer-to-peer relationship skill-building and personal development experiences.
  • Engage in self-reflection when receiving constructive performance feedback from management.
  • Supervisor the junior counsellors, and ensure the ISP is followed
  • Ensure equipment cleanliness, safety, and readiness for participants.
  • Oversee behaviour therapist camp counsellor
  • Follow all ihealthox safety protocols and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and trainings.
  • Perform administrative tasks to ensure smooth program operations.
  • Communicate with families, drop and pick up
  • Enure that you are available for pick up and drop off
  • Organize your team, and staff to take on the camp day with their group of children Qualifications:
    • Educational requirements may include a Master's Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field [i.e. Autism & Behaviour Sciences, Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Psychology, etc.] along with the necessary coursework for BCaBA certification.
    • The successful candidate must have at least 2 years of experience providing direct ABA therapy to clients.
    • Additionally, the successful candidate must remain current in literature and research in the field of applied behaviour analysis, have demonstrated strong organization and planning skills, and be a positive team player.
    • Must be available to work Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5;00 p.m.
    • Previous camp or youth program experience, or experience working with children with disabilities or special needs, is a strong asset.
    • Ability to follow verbal and/or written directions/procedures.
    • Standard First Aid certification is strongly preferred. French proficiency is preferred.
    • Experience with crisis management and de-escalation is strongly preferred. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training is a strong asset.
    • Ability to accompany and supervise participants in various environments including aquatic and outdoor settings.
    • Successful candidates will be required to complete a Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector.
