Dump Truck drivers play a critical role in the successful completion of Milestones projects. Drivers contribute to efficient daily productions through proactive thinking, preplanning and active communication with operators and site Managers. Dump Truck Drivers are key contributing members of the team and have the opportunity to exponentially learn and grow. Milestone's civil division works on a variety of different projects. The work includes civil & infrastructure, environmental construction, industrial & commercial, residential development, landscaping, and much more!

Truck Drivers will be involved in specific civil division projects and/or the landscaping phase of Milestones civil construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities - What is my role?

  • Safe and efficient operation of tandem dump truck and trucks with pony trailers to deliver materials including dirt, sand and gravel and meet production targets
  • Perform daily pre and post trip inspections, and follow daily maintenance practices
  • Safety and efficiently operate equipment
  • Report, communicate, and coordinate with site Dispatcher and Site supervisors to ensure clear understanding of work at hand and expectations of the day/week
  • Must be familiar with all local major truck routes, scales and traffic laws and
  • Open to truck to Various Vancouver Island locations.
  • Work in and implement safe work practices while contributing to a safe work environment
  • Ensure equipment is properly cared for, clean, and any repairs and/or damage is reported immediately
  • Report any/all unsafe work, incidents and/or concerns to Supervisor and/or Superintendent. Ensure to provide trucking slips to onsite Supervisors.

Qualifications & Requirements - What skills & qualifications do I need?

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to do extensive physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
  • Ability to work in all weather
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Friendly, positive, and open attitude, always willing to learn and improve
  • Ability to work and communicate within a team
  • Help promote and work within a culture of jobsite safety, where safety is everyone's #1 priority
  • Experience as a general laborer in construction industry is an asset
  • Ability to consistently complete daily safety documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
