We are currently searching for a Business Development Specialist (Human or Animal Nutrition) to join our team. This role focuses on building new business opportunities, new customer segments and new markets. A strong customer focus, technical knowledge and effective collaboration skills are required to be successful in this position.
Core Responsibilities:
New Business Development & Selling
- Utilizing technical knowledge and expertise, focuses primarily on developing new markets and new customer segments for Bioriginal to pursue.
- Conducts some initial selling activities within specified market and customer segments, with intentions to pass selling activities to the sales team where appropriate.
- Builds relationships with new/potential customers and key stakeholders, understanding key decision makers within organizations.
- Working closely with the VP of Business Development, develops, negotiates and closes various phases of engagements with clients and customers.
Miscellaneous Business Development Duties
- Works on various projects as assigned by the VP, Business Development to help grow and further develop specific markets, products and/or customers.
- Researches perspective markets, customers, etc. and provides tailored presentations to clients and customers that will meet needs and provide growth for the Company.
- Collaborates with various cross functional teams as required.
- As directed by the VP of Business Development, hands off new customers within area of focus/development to sales, while still providing technical/market support as needed.
- Ensures all information and data is tracked within the Company's CRM.
- Understands and stays up-to-date on industry/market trends, customer needs and requirements and other emerging trends that could impact Bioriginal's business and new business opportunities.
- Provides other support as required.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of previous business development or sales experience is required, with a preference for experience in business-to-business sales.
- Post-secondary education in nutrition, animal nutrition, food science, veterinary science or other related discipline is preferred.
- Previous experience with project management is an asset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders is required.
- Strong ability to influence others is required.
- Strong organization and project management skills.
- Strong business acumen is required.
