Reporting To: Vice President, Strategic Accounts

Location: Western Canada (Remote, Travel Required)

The Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ Years Logistics experience supporting Supply Chain functions in Mining, Industrial and other manufacturing, and distribution verticals.
  • Strong knowledge in facilitating supply chain, transportation and/or logistical solutions within North America.
  • Expertise utilizing a variety of modes and equipment types (such as: Specialized equipment, Dry, Temperature Control, Dangerous Goods TL, LTL and IM).
  • Competency and understanding of Rate Agreements, Market Changes, and other influencing factors.
  • Trust-worthy, Focused on Building Enduring Relationships
  • Strong leadership qualities, a born communicator, listener, and team-player
  • Representative of the company in a professional and highly ethical manner.
  • Effective in digesting important data, summarizing it and presenting the story to the customer so it can be actionable.
  • Experience leading onboarding initiatives and projects.
  • Strong organizational skills that can multi-task, respect deadlines and prioritize.
  • Strong Excel is essential as are other Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent negotiation skills that allow each party to feel they have gained.
  • Commitment to executional excellence and outstanding customer service.
  • Embraces complexity with the objective to understand it and stabilize the situation.
  • Ability to develop and document standard operating procedures.
  • Experience using Lean Tools for problem solving and finding amicable solutions with Internal and External parties.
  • Passionate, accountable, flexible with an ability to take pride in their work.
  • Have a focus on driving efficient and effective processes.
  • Desire to leverage technology to minimize and remove routine work and make process improvements.
  • Willingness to work outside their role as needed to support business needs.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or flexible hours during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

  • The Strategic Account Manager has 3 Primary areas focus:
    • Customer Retention/Engagement,
    • Customer Growth
    • Continuous Improvement Project Leader
  • Owns the customer relationship and maintains the health of the account.
  • Plays a key role in customer retention by consistently creating value.
  • Continues to build and maintain C-Level and influencer relationships.
  • Maintains a holistic view and understanding of scope of services and how internal functional areas and external parties all connect.
  • Identify opportunities to resolve customer's pain points (supply chain challenges) and set into action.
  • Initiates in person engagement (travel will be required) which promotes Customer and Company growth.
  • Will set targets and expectations for Customer opportunities.
  • Drive and Lead Cross-functional Projects (Onboarding or Continuous Improvement Initiatives) by using the proper tools (i.e. Project Planner) to manage the deliverables and respect the timelines.
  • Will track progress to all projects and communicate to all parties effectively.
  • Takes initiative to learn internal operating systems and all technology applications.
  • Works closely with all internal departments (Finance, Operations, Engineering and I.T) to enable visibility and information to be shared clear and concise.
  • Process mapping and documentation of SOP's will be required to effectively communicate to all stakeholders (internal or external).
  • Maintain action registers that are customer facing.
  • Prepares and presents the Monthly or Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Set proper standards for KPI's, track and work with those under performing.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the ability to address conflict, negotiate and reach resolution.
  • Set training objectives and assist in testing for any new onboarding initiatives.
  • Lead and execute of CMIS RFP events.
  • Assist in participation of External RFP's events.
  • Ensures all customer deliverables and reporting requirements are met.
  • Reconcile, identify trends and action on invoice discrepancies.
  • Participate in Supplier Business Reviews.
  • Proactively plan for forecasted volumes, disruption in service due to peaks and holidays.
  • Seek market intelligence with the ability to be nimble and react to market conditions (peak seasons, government regulations, natural disasters, strikes, etc.).
  • Use your knowledge, expertise, and network contacts to create a pipeline of new relationships.
  • Identify not in scope opportunities.
  • Assist and/or lead in Supplier/Carrier Sourcing initiatives or Ad hoc requests.
  • Assist and/or lead in onboarding new suppliers/carriers.
