Position Overview:

We are seeking an Environmental Business Development Specialist to play a crucial role in our growing team. The ideal candidate will appreciate the following aspects:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across diverse sectors such as oil & gas, mining, renewables, government, non-profit and others;
  • Implement a customer relationship management system to foster strong relationships with new and existing clients and key stakeholders;
  • Leverage technical expertise in environmental science (i.e., aquatics, wildlife, wetland, vegetation and GIS disciplines) to understand client needs and provide tailored solutions;
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure accurate project scoping and proposal development;
  • Work with marketing team to create relevant and tailored materials for promotional and PR purposes;
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and potential areas for business growth;
  • Seek regular feedback from customers, analyzing and assessing the effectiveness of strategies for continuous improvement;
  • Be accountable for AJM's business development-related KPI's;
  • Attend industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote the AJM Environmental and establish a strong professional presence.

Specific Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's or advanced degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Business Administration or related discipline;
  • Proven experience in the environmental field with deep familiarity of industry sectors and clients;
  • Strong technical background and registered (or ability to register) as a Professional Biologist in Alberta and/or BC (considered an asset);
  • A willingness to go the extra mile, coupled with self-starting abilities in a demanding team environment;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with exceptional presentation skills;
  • Technical writing skills (considered an asset);
  • A cultural ambassador who can embody AJM's core values in all aspects of the role;
  • Ability to learn new technology (and have fun while doing so!);
  • Ability to prioritize competing initiatives and thrive in ambiguous situations;
  • A track record of fostering a strong health and safety culture;
  • Willingness to travel to client meetings, conferences and project sites as required;
  • Entrepreneurial spirited with solid business acumen.
