Heavy Equipment Operator – Atlantic Road Construction & Paving

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. We are currently looking to hire experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing team in the HRM area for the upcoming construction season. Reporting to the Site Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner that is consistent with company values, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

· 3 years operating heavy equipment.

· Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.

· Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.

· Highly organized with keen attention to detail.

· Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks.

· Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

· Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.

· Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.

· Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.

· Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.

· Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.

· Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.

· Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.

· Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators.

· Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.

· Other duties as required
