The opportunity
The Learning & Development program manager plays a key role at Heart & Stroke in supporting the development of employee learning plans to deepen our culture of caring, employee engagement in a hybrid workplace, and employee performance. This is accomplished through incorporating working knowledge and experience in adult learning, change management principles, and employee engagement to the development of programs, processes and tools that support employee learning and growth.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development (L&D), this role partners closely to support strategic thinking, development, project management, execution and maintenance of learning and organization development programs, processes, and tools that enable Heart & Stroke's culture, values, and strategy through fostering employee growth, engagement and effectiveness.

How you will make an impact every day
Program development and delivery
  • Support the Senior Manager, L&D in the implementation of a comprehensive and integrated employee learning & development program focused on fostering a culture of high-performance (individual and organizational), caring for oneself and each other, equity diversity and inclusion, and professional learning and growth.
  • Bring a strategic mindset, collaborative approach, problem solving and influence skills when partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure L&D projects are scoped accurately, change management principals are considered in design and implementation, reflects adult learning principles, achieves learning and business objectives and drives engagement and impact.
  • Lead the project management, delivery, evaluation and process improvement of core L&D programs including, but not limited to performance management learning sessions, new employee onboarding, Wellbeing Wednesday webinars, LinkedIn Learning, EDI learning, and the employee recognition program.
  • Support the delivery and evaluation of other learning programs and CTD processes, including but not limited to: health equity learning initiatives, CardiacCrashTM CPR program, Heart & Stroke's performance management process, and professional development initiatives.
  • Conduct research, liaise with vendors and source L&D programs/processes/tools that are the most effective, cost efficient and high impact interventions to support desired skill, knowledge and/or culture build.
  • Apply principles of adult learning (including knowledge of multi-generational learners), instructional design and change management to optimize employees' internalizing and applying the skills and knowledge, sustainably over time.
  • Liaise with key program stakeholders to ensure core programs are organized, current, sustaining effectiveness and meeting established learning needs.
Communications and information management
  • Lead the design, creation, and maintenance of learning and development content in the Culture, Talent and Diversity section of Heart & Stroke's intranet ‘Rita' (e.g. HR Hub)
  • Build and maintain an excellent working relationship with the internal communications team to ensure learning and development related content contributes to building a workplace culture in which learning is fostered and there is consistency of voice and brand.
  • Provide back up support to L&D colleagues in the management of Heart & Stroke's learning management system, Learn as One, LinkedIn Learning and Knowbe4 account management, onboarding and offboarding activities, and general employee support
  • Support other projects/programs as required.

Evaluation, reporting and analytics
  • Consolidate and analyze results from L&D employee surveys, evaluations, assessments and focus groups to identify strengths to build upon, opportunities for improvement, and supporting recommendations.
  • Compile, analyze and report on adoption, utilization and other learning metrics as needed to support L&D reporting requirements.
  • Track and report on learning outcomes to demonstrate impact of core programs to the business.
  • Adhere to quality assurance and approval procedures.
  • As required, provide updates, reports, positioning statements and briefings to the learning and development, CTD team and as required senior management.
Who we need
Education
  • University degree, or College diploma or certificate in Learning & Development, Human Resources, Adult Education, or Instructional Design.
Experience
  • 5-7 years related work experience, preferably in Learning and Development, Training, Instructional Design and/or Adult Education fields.
  • Working knowledge of adult education, instructional design and project management principles.
Skills
  • Experience with instructional design for both soft and technical skills (e.g. information technology platforms).
  • Experience with design and delivery of webinars, workshops and HR skills related learning programs.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal direction while demonstrating the ability to exercise mature judgment and prioritization.
  • Strong computer skills and easily adapts to learning, leveraging and championing (use of) new technology.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Enjoy a "hands-on" approach to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset to relook at programs and constantly think how we can improve to drive value and have larger impact.
  • Able to translate broad or complex concepts into simple, practical terms for all types of audiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills, particularly when communicating to key stakeholders and members of senior leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity and uncertainty to achieve objectives.
  • Experience with project management and ability to formulate and articulate a project plan and translate it into strategies and actions that will enable achievement of goals.
  • Strong time management and organizational capabilities to balance competing demands/projects simultaneously using project management skills/principles while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and use political savvy to gain credibility with all levels of staff and build relationships with internal and external contacts (influence without authority).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 360 applications and virtual meeting software.
  • Working knowledge of Docebo, Sharepoint, MS Forms and Survey Monkey would be an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English would be an asset.
