The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's finance reporting and treasure functions by managing key balance sheet reconciliations and assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, audits and tax compliance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Treasury

  • Produce daily bank (cash) reports.
  • Initiate bank transfers and intercompany payments.
  • Coordinate inquiries internally with AR and AP teams and externally with banks regarding incoming and outgoing transactions, loan account reconciliations, and payment arrangements.
  • Guide the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams on cash receipts and vendor payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly.

Financial Reporting (Monthly/Quarterly/Annual)

  • Support the Assistant Controller in the month-end close process.
  • Run month-end reports, including the General Ledger trial balance, Balance Sheet, and

Income Statement

  • Prepare month-end GL entries and working papers and adjust entries for the Storkcraft Canada and USA entities.
  • Support the Assistant Controller in monthly financial statements and consolidations and provide analysis on crucial accounting matters.

External Reporting and Audit

  • Prepare monthly bank reports to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Assist the Finance Operating Director in preparing monthly and quarterly royalty reporting and payment schedules for licensing partners.
  • Collaborate with the external audit team, providing accounting details, breakdowns, reconciliations, and other supporting documentation.
  • Support the Finance Operating Director in Canada and US sales tax compliance and income tax reporting.

Accounting Process and Internal Controls & AD-HOC reports:

  • Assist the Finance Operating Director in establishing and maintaining internal controls and reporting/standard compliance.
  • Assess and compile data/information from other teams (AR, AP, Operations, Sales, etc.) regarding crucial matters and promptly communicate with the Finance Operating Director and management team.
  • Support other critical finance projects, such as insurance, subcontracting agreements, restructuring, budgeting, and GL code management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Previous experience in financial reporting preparation under ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships across the business at all levels.
  • Critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential material sensitively.
