We are nestled in the heart of Ucluelet, within the pristine Pacific Rim National Park, amidst ancient Cedar forests and the rugged Vancouver Island coastline, where nature bestows an abundant array of seasonal ingredients.


The Position:
The Restaurant Chef is a natural leader who radiates positivity and an unwavering passion for imparting their wisdom regarding unique ingredients and techniques, motivating their culinary comrades to reach their full potential.


During the bustling moments of service, your demeanor remains poised, characterized by diplomacy, candor, and a deep sense of understanding.


The Restaurant Chef plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the kitchen's leadership team to devise menus and recipes that will contribute to the establishment of a world-class food and beverage program at Black Rock Resort.


As expected, you will also be tasked with fostering relationships with local farms, fishermen, and other suppliers of exceptional, one-of-a-kind ingredients.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the west coast region and/ or local experience
  • Passion for inspiring, coaching and developing a team
  • 5+ years culinary leadership experience (Preference given for Resort/Hotel experience)
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Proven teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement
  • Successful completion of an accredited culinary program, or equivalent
  • Red seal certification or equivalent
  • First Aid certification is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Ability to work in high-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Able to lift/move up to 40 lbs.
