Cleveland Cliffs Tooling and Stamping has an immediate opportunity for an Apprentice Electrician in our Windsor, Ontario Facilities. The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for supporting production. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a stamping environment, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Receive assignments from Electrical Supervisor and properly log all hours into computerized system.
  • Building control panels, junction boxes and fabricating cables.
  • Mounting sensors, HMI displays and other operator interface devices.
  • Field wiring of automated machinery, robot cells and CNC machines.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical wiring problems on machines in house.
  • Assist with maintaining shop equipment.
  • Planning of wire routing and device locations on machines.
  • Check electrical purchased items with released Bill Of Materials and stage all components to their proper location.
  • Ensure that timelines for wiring are followed and machines are ready on scheduled start-up dates regarding I/O and safety checks.
  • Report damaged electrical components to supervisor.
  • After a job is complete return left over electrical materials to shipping/receiving or consignment.
  • Ensure electrical shop supplies are ordered and consignment levels are maintained.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiar with maintenance software, organization and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel, various types of PLC and HMI an asset
  • Familiar with panel building, machine safeties and applicable electrical codes
  • Experience in wiring and troubleshooting of machines
  • Familiarity with industrial facility electrical maintenance coupled with demonstrated practical use of the Electrical Safety Code is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Industrial Electrician Apprentice.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing environment working with industrial machinery

Manages the entire manpower allocation of the Production Departments while meeting the sales/customer demands. Responsible for utilizing the resources available with the emphasis on minimum cost and maximum throughput while maintaining quality, utilization of equipment, and ensuring excellent morale of the manpower resources.
