Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. is a Canadian mineral development company headquartered in Toronto. We specialize in critical metals and minerals with growing demand in new technology. Avalon has five critical minerals project across Canada, providing investors with exposure to lithium, rare earths, cesium, tantalum, feldspars, tin and indium. We continue to evaluate opportunities to apply new extraction technology to recover rare earths and other metals from acid mine drainage at closed mine sites across North America, remediating outstanding environmental liability. The principles of sustainability are core values of Avalon, and we are a leader among junior miners in adopting best practices to reduce our environmental footprint, prevent water contamination and engage with local communities.
Here's what you will do as Investor Relations Associate:
The Investor Relations Associate will manage communication with new and existing investors and help to manage the relationship with investors through sharing Avalon's objectives and strategy. More specifically, you will:
  • In collaboration with senior executives, develop Avalon's Investor Relations strategy including messaging, tactics and metrics for measuring plan effectiveness;
  • Serve as a key contact for investor inquiries and prepare responses to investor inquiries ensuring quality and consistency of responses;
  • Manage the preparation and dissemination of external communication materials. Collaborate with team members on the drafting of content (to shareholders and all other investor communication materials) and investor news flow calendar;
  • Conduct research and insightful ad hoc analysis and insights on key investors and trends in the minerals, mining and energy sector;
  • Prepare and coordinate relevant materials for Annual General Meetings (AGM) and Quarterly Investor meetings. ;
  • Collaborate with external partners to create target list to be used for regular outreach to the investment community and work with brokers and other key stakeholders to engage target investors;
  • Manage Investor Relations contracts with service providers and assist in contract renegotiations. Ensure all deliverables are being met before expiry of contract;
  • Maintain and manage investor relations database;
  • Special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of Avalon.

Here's what you'll need to be successful:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, business, communications, or relevant field;
  • 2-4 years experience in a similar Investor Relations role and experience within the critical metals and minerals and energy sector;
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel / PowerPoint);
  • Ability to visualize data with strong skills in developing high-quality briefing notes, presentations, graphs, reports, workflow charts, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills. Proven experience in research and analysis on key industry trends;
  • Excellent communication and sales skills enabling you to build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders;
  • Ability to effectively present and clarify concerns and concepts to various audiences at all levels of the business;
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with external and internal stakeholders;
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to be resourceful in defining solutions;
  • Exceptional organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Exemplary collaboration and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships;
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities;
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and easily adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Energetic and straightforward professional who is eager to learn;
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
