Summary/Job Scope:

This position is responsible for development and implementation of the carbon capture initiatives for VCNA's cement plants; identifying different carbon capture technologies considering site synergies and constraints and evaluating CO2 utilization and storage processes.

Technical and overall project management to deliver a technically sound, economically feasible and risk balanced project through process engineering proficiency, excellent project management, organizational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate different carbon capture technologies, suppliers and implementation in VCNA's cement plants considering plant and technology specific conditions.
  • Evaluate CO2 utilization and storage options for the development of different projects: from pilots to industrial scale projects.
  • Participate in technical discussions with potential companies interested to be part of CO2 projects: utilization, storage and transportation.
  • Assess the evolving commercial and competitive landscape of carbon capture, utilization and storage and maintain an on-going learning and awareness of cutting-edge technologies and solutions.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including technical concept and scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • In conjunction with Procurement, manage commercial and contract management aspects of project (RFPs, contract negotiations, contract disputes, performance guarantees, etc.).
  • Manage internal and external resources to develop projects according to defined plans.
  • Oversee carbon capture projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget.
  • Follow VCNA's health and safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe workplace and strive for zero occupational injuries and accidents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or other project management certification.
  • Proven track record of managing large scale projects in heavy industrial / oil and gas environment that integrated various stakeholders and completed full life cycle.
  • Skills in engineering work, project management, planning and control methods.
  • Familiar with the industrial processes, engineering standards and equipment used in carbon capture installations (fans, pumps, fluid mechanics, process engineering).
  • Proven experience in industrial project management, costing, project control and contract management on projects of >$250M.
  • Experience in preparing, managing, executing, monitoring, and reporting on scopes of work that include technical, financial, commercial, legal, and environmental information.
  • Management of project organization consisting of various engineering disciplines and various internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Some travel required at times (30-40%), crossing Canada/United States border and overnight stays.
