We are hiring for a Staff Accountant, based out of our Vancouver office. General Function of Role:

The Staff Accountant will process business transactions with a focus on accounts payable and disbursements and maintaining a thorough record of the transactions. They will be familiar with accounting procedures and will be responsible for data entry.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Perform day to day management of all payment cycle activities and provide efficient client service.
  • Keeps track, process and reconcile payments and expenditures, including invoices, statements, cheques, employee reimbursements, credit cards etc, in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Send statements to clients regarding payment activity.
  • Ensure correct approval, sorting, coding, and matching of invoices/receipts.
  • Petty cash maintenance.
  • Reconciles accounts as needed.
  • Maintains and organizes vendor filings system.
  • Prepares and maintains payroll information through the third-party vendor by collecting, calculating, entering, and reconciling data.
  • Contributes to month-end and year-end closures.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Assists Finance team with maintenance of ERP.
  • Create and review timesheets for overall compliance to the firms' policies.
  • Assists Finance team with maintenance of database program.
  • Assists the Director of Finance in other duties as required.

What you bring to the table:

  • Undergraduate degree in business with a specialization in accounting or finance.
  • 2+ years in an accounting role performing full cycle accounting. Please note that experience with ADP and/or processing payroll for the US would be considered an asset.
  • Understands accounting concepts and financial statements.
  • Able to perform business mathematical calculations.
  • Has a high level of accuracy working with numbers.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills both orally and written.
  • Able to focus, manage time well, prioritize and stay organized.
  • Ability to compose letters, memos, and financial reports.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to protect confidential and sensitive information.
  • Takes responsibility and stands behind their work.
  • Must respect and cooperate with others and be willing to help when asked.
  • Expert in using Excel.
  • Knowing Microsoft Access and SQL considered an asset.
