Product Manager – Mission Planning Systems Software

We are currently seeking a Product Manager to be responsible for our Mission Planning Systems Software (SkyLink™ / LaunchPADS™) as part of our Ottawa based team!

What will you be doing?

  • Product Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for TAK/ATAK that aligns with the organization's goals and market demands. Identify new features, enhancements, and capabilities to improve the product's value proposition;
  • Product Development: Collaborate with a team of software engineers, UX/UI designers, and subject matter experts to translate customer requirements into product specifications. Lead the product development process, including planning, resource allocation, and sprint management;
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, such as military commanders, field operators, and government agencies, to gather feedback, understand user needs, and prioritize product features. Build strong relationships with customers to ensure customer satisfaction and gather market intelligence;
  • Product Roadmap: Create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the product's future direction and key milestones. Prioritize feature development based on user feedback, market trends, and organizational goals;
  • Product Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies. Support the creation of marketing materials, product documentation, and training resources;
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to define testing requirements, ensure product quality, and address any issues or bugs. Conduct regular product testing and performance evaluations;
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users, including military personnel and other operators. Collaborate with the customer support team to address user inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and gather feedback for product improvement;
  • Competitive Analysis: Stay informed about competitive products and industry trends. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats. Adjust the product strategy accordingly;
  • Develop and manage document release planning to ensure that the product is delivered on-time and within budget;
  • Monitor and manage product performance and KPIs to ensure that the product meets customer needs and quality standards.

What do we need from you?

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in product management or product development in software, ideally in a physical product focused environment
  • Strong technical background with experience in product design, development, and manufacturing; and
  • Experience managing the complete SW product lifecycle.

Desirable experience

  • Strong understanding of mission planning systems, geospatial technologies, and situational awareness tools, with specific experience in TAK/ATAK;
  • Familiarity with military, law enforcement, or emergency response operations and requirements;
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and tools;
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2000 and/or AS9100.
